My Approach to Hypnosis

hypnotherapy, hypnosisWhen someone comes to me for hypnosis therapy, one of the first things I do is assure them that I don't make people bark like dogs or cluck like chickens. Many folks are familiar with hypnosis from seeing someone at a comedy club or watching a demonstration at a school assembly. This is not what I do.

My way of working is focused on bringing out the best in people. I don't do anything to violate someone's values - I wouldn't do anything that would embarrass people in front of friends, family or co-workers.

Hypnosis involves something called "trance." We encounter "trance" all the time, even if we don't know it as "hypnosis".  For example, sometimes when I drive, my mind temporarily goes "somewhere else". When that happens, it's usually not a very deep trance as I can still use my brakes, change lanes, notice my surroundings and more. Once in a while the state of "trance" might be a little bit deeper. In that case, I may miss my exit, have to drive to the next one and turn around.

Another example of "trance" happens when I go to the movies. If I become engaged a movie, I can become "entranced" - the movie ends, the credits roll, and what seemed like an hour, was really two or three hours. Similarly, I sometimes finish a conversation with a close friend and what seemed to be a twenty minute phone call was really an hour!

I use the lightest form of "trance" possible and the person being hypnotized has memory of everything we say and do.

Here's what happens:

  1. We talk about the challenges you are having and what you want to change.
  2. Based on what your challenges are, I'll suggest a therapeutic procedure or procedures and review them with you so you know exactly what to expect.
  3. I'll guide you through the procedures to bring about the changes we talked about.
  4. Lastly, you'll have the opportunity to see how the changes look for your future.

I make this change as simple and effective as possible. I've been honing my practice for over 20 years so I have the experience and knowledge to help you get unstuck, heal and create the changes you want in your life.
